Time Flies When You're ... Doing Something Else

Yeah, it's been a while - and it may be a while again, especially if I can't get this thing kicked back into the "active" place on Blogspot.

Changes, since the last post: returned from third-year school to have my company shut down for economic reasons; a year later, finally hired on with Tolko's Quest division in Quesnel - great crew, LOADS of brain-stretching new things to learn, and - dammit - a crappy apartment on the west side to spend extra money on, instead of risking my neck on my own poor winter driving skills. "You do what you gotta so you can do what you wanna." It'll do, for now - I'm giving them at least a few years, since they gave me the chance I so badly needed to get my apprenticeship finished. Oh, yeah - finished fourth year, and managed a mid-80s mark on the term and on the InterProvincial exam - now, with hours also complete and my sponsorship switched over, I'm just waiting for sign-off.

Billy's back to driving, as a result of the nastiness that rained all over the industry during the most recent stretch of downturn - but he's been driving for a guy based here in Quesnel, so even when he moved to a camp outside of PG, he was still "living with me" here. And we still go home on weekends, 'cause after all, it's home! Other family members are the same, 'cept we lost Grizz many months ago - saw him last on the same day that we moved a grunchy old couch out, and a new-to-us couch in, so we've decided he was stowed away on board, and wanted to take his chances in the big world. I don't like to think about it any deeper than that - for all his wild ways, he was still fun to have around.

And now, I ought to return to work - lunchtime being a somewhat amorphous concept on graveyard shift, it's hard to say when it's really over... but I'm sure it will be, any moment now, if it wasn't already.
